The Peruvian Social Incubator (TPSI) is one of the allies of PERUMIN Inspira 2024, which is why they will offer a program for the four winners of this edition to incubate their social impact entrepreneurship ideas.
We spoke with Sergio Casquero, director of TPSI, who shared insights into the sustainability focus of their work, the initiatives they participate in, and the lessons learned from their national and international experience.
Why is it important for TPSI to contribute to the development of social impact ventures?
Since our founding in 2019, we have been committed to strengthening the social entrepreneurship ecosystem as a driver of change in the country. Our mission focuses on bridging social gaps through education and training for Peruvian entrepreneurs, particularly those in the most remote regions.
PERUMIN Inspira and TPSI aim to support ventures that not only create economic value but also address social and environmental challenges, promoting more inclusive and sustainable development. This approach decentralizes opportunities, brings resources and technical knowledge to underserved regions, and empowers local entrepreneurs to become agents of change in their own communities.
How have you supported this edition of PERUMIN Inspira?
As director of TPSI, I participated as a panelist in the discussion on Social Management at the PERUMIN Jóvenes event. Additionally, TPSI is offering a three-month incubation program to the four winners of PERUMIN Inspira. This program includes access to our incubation platform and personalized consulting to support the participants throughout the process.
The program focuses on enhancing their business models, providing tools to strengthen their value propositions, and creating a network to help them access competitions and funding opportunities in the future.
Would you participate as allies in a future edition of the program?
We would love to participate in future editions. We view this collaboration as a valuable opportunity to continue strengthening high-impact social enterprises, particularly in areas where we can add value.
Do you consider it essential to integrate social responsibility into ventures and businesses in Peru?
Absolutely. Integrating social responsibility into the entrepreneurial ecosystem is key. At TPSI, we believe that businesses and ventures must generate not only economic value but also social and environmental value. To achieve this, it is essential to provide technical support to entrepreneurial initiatives to ensure that their solutions align with the challenges of the private sector.
This approach ensures that initiatives contribute to the well-being of their communities and environmental stewardship, creating a long-term positive impact. Sustainability and social responsibility make businesses more resilient and better equipped to adapt to the changing needs of Peruvian society.
Are you involved in other initiatives that promote sustainable development?
Yes, at TPSI, we promote various initiatives that foster sustainable development, with our incubation programs playing a central role in this mission. Over the years, we have implemented seven incubation programs that support regional entrepreneurs in key areas such as environmental sustainability, social impact, and economic empowerment in rural communities.
Beyond incubation, we regularly organize events and workshops that give entrepreneurs access to support networks and new funding opportunities. These programs are held annually, and we are always looking to involve new strategic partners.
What achievement stands out for you this year?
In 2024, thanks to a co-funded initiative with ProInnóvate, we launched the "Loreto Emprende" project in the Amazon region. This initiative empowered 30 women entrepreneurs through a hybrid incubation program and an in-person workshop on artisanal jewelry. Additionally, we produced a short documentary showcasing stories of social enterprises in the region, aiming to connect these entrepreneurs with broader audiences.
TPSI also actively participates in sustainability events, such as Perú Sostenible, collaborating with organizations to strengthen Peru’s social entrepreneurship ecosystem.
Would you be interested in forging an alliance with the mining industry to promote development and social responsibility?
Absolutely. TPSI views the mining industry as a potential ally in creating social and sustainable impact. We believe that an alliance with this sector could strengthen regional development by providing resources and knowledge to support ventures that promote inclusion, environmental stewardship, and economic growth in mining areas. This would create a comprehensive connection between the private sector, the entrepreneurial ecosystem, public institutions, and academia as support entities.
Through our experience in countries like Chile, we have seen first-hand the importance of collaborative efforts between mining, academia, and the entrepreneurial ecosystem. We are open to exploring joint opportunities where we can play a key role by providing technical and professional support to entrepreneurs, helping them develop sustainable solutions to the industry’s challenges, and, in turn, contributing to a better society and country.
