Kaman: Entrepreneurs need to consider the socio-environmental impacts of their business decisions

Karen Gutierrez, Chief of Section at Kaman–the business incubator of the Universidad Católica San Pablo–tells us how they have been working to promote sustainable and socially responsible business.

She stressed that they are open to collaborating with entities that share their vision of inclusive and sustainable development for the benefit of communities, in the same way that they are allies of PERUMIN Inspira 2024.

Why is it important for Kaman to support the development of social impact ventures?

It is fundamental for Kaman because we believe that entrepreneurship is a key tool to improve the quality of life in our communities. PERUMIN Inspira is perfectly aligned with our mission to promote projects that generate sustainable benefits and contribute to the development of Peru.

How do you contribute to the winners of PERUMIN Inspira?

We offer the four winning teams a three-month mentoring program, with monthly sessions totaling 48 hours of specialized mentoring. During this time, we focus on guiding them in key areas such as sustainable business model development, resource management, and strategic planning, helping to strengthen their projects to have a positive impact on society.

What would you suggest to integrate more of the social responsibility approach in Peruvian ventures and companies?

I would suggest that entrepreneurs consider the social and environmental impacts of their business decisions and adopt sustainable business practices. Companies can become more involved in promoting social welfare and the responsible use of resources. In addition, it would be ideal for educational organizations to continue fostering a values-based business vision and commitment to the well-being of local communities.

What other initiatives does your institution take in favor of sustainable development?

At Kaman, we support various initiatives that seek sustainable development. For example, we promote incubation programs that integrate social innovation. In addition, we collaborate with different entities to design projects that respond to sustainability challenges in diverse areas such as recycling and renewable energy.

Do you have alliances or interest in establishing alliances with institutions that promote development and social responsibility?

Yes, Kaman and Universidad Católica San Pablo are both actively interested in establishing and strengthening alliances with institutions dedicated to social development and social responsibility. The collaboration with the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers in PERUMIN Inspira is an example of how we work to enhance the social and sustainable impact of ventures. We are open to collaborate with entities that share our vision of inclusive and sustainable development for the benefit of our communities.
