Lima, SEPTEMBER 19 2024 The First PERUMIN Jóvenes Will Be Held in October of This Year

The event will showcase the contributions of the new generations to our country's development and highlight their immense potential. Winners of the National School Mining Award, PERUMIN Inspira, and PERUMIN Hub will also be announced.

As part of “Mining Thursday,” an event organized by the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP), the launch of PERUMIN 37 took place in Lima. This leading mining convention in Latin America and the world will be held in the city of Arequipa from September 22 to 26, 2025.

The event was attended by the president of PERUMIN 37, Jimena Sologuren, who announced the activities being developed this year as a prelude to the event. These include the Rumbo a PERUMIN conferences and programs aimed at connecting the industry with schoolchildren, young professionals, and entrepreneurs.

“PERUMIN is much more than a mining event; it is a platform for continuous dialogue on relevant and innovative topics in the sector. In 2024, we are focusing on developing programs aimed primarily at young people, students, and schoolchildren,” said Sologuren.

She revealed that PERUMIN Jóvenes will be held for the first time on October 29 and 30. This event will highlight the talent of the new generations, their potential, and their contribution to the country's development.

“Additionally, at PERUMIN Jóvenes, we will award the winners of the National School Mining Award, PERUMIN Inspira, and PERUMIN Hub in the category ˈYoung People Who Brings About Transformationˈ. We hope to have the support of all of you to bring together young people from different regions of our great country,” she said.

Regarding Rumbo a PERUMIN, she highlighted it as an ideal space to bring the industry closer to universities, teachers, students, and opinion leaders across the country. She also noted that this year it has been held in a decentralized manner in Arequipa and Cajamarca, with upcoming events in Cusco, Áncash, and other regions.

For his part, Darío Zegarra, president of the IIMP, organizers of the Mining Convention since 1954, emphasized PERUMIN's contribution not only to economic growth but also to the social and sustainable development of the country.

“PERUMIN, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary this month, has achieved the relevance it has today by addressing crucial aspects for the development not only of mining activity but also of the country’s economic and human growth. Each edition brings together authorities, business leaders, academics, professionals, and students from various parts of Peru and the world to share experiences and knowledge to promote sustainability and the well-being of all Peruvians,” Zegarra highlighted.
