As part of INKAMIN, which will take place from November 11 to 15, the experience of this new initiative, driven by the PERUMIN 37 Organizing Committee, will be brought to life.

After the successful first edition of PERUMIN Jóvenes, held at the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP) on October 29 and 30, the event's president, Homar Lozano, announced plans for a national tour beginning in Cajamarca.

"We believe this initiative shouldn’t be limited to this event. The idea is to take the platform we’ve created to other regions. We’ve decided to start with student congresses related to our industry, bringing the essence of PERUMIN to their universities and cities," said Lozano during the Jueves Minero conference.

The first stop will be in Cajamarca, where they will participate in INKAMIN, a student congress scheduled for November 11–15. The delegation will include 30 executives and professionals from leading mining companies in Cajamarca.

Highlights of the First Edition of PERUMIN Jóvenes

The event in Lima welcomed 605 young participants in person, including recent graduates, technical students, and university students. Of the attendees, 37% were women and 63% men, representing 15 regions of the country and 36 institutions, including mining associations, public organizations, and universities.

The event featured over 60 speakers and eight sponsoring companies.

In this space, the winners of the PERUMIN Hub innovation program were recognized in the “Young People Who Bring About Transformation” category. In the national category, the winner was Yamir Velazco (Arequipa) with the Livanguard project, which involves the development and implementation of a microalgae photobioreactor for CO₂ capture. In the international category, Santiago Correa (Colombia) won with YEIKER, an electrochemical sensor for the simultaneous detection of multiple gases in the air.

Additionally, the winners of PERUMIN Inspira were also celebrated. This year, the program highlighted innovative ideas with the potential to develop into ventures with social impact.
The winner of the Grand Prize PERUMIN Inspira and the ODS 8 (Decent Work) category was Mikuykusi – The Pleasure of Cocoa. The winners in other categories were: Nutrigenix for ODS 2 (Zero Hunger), Econiza for ODS 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), and Agrobiofish for ODS 13 (Climate Action).

The event also introduced the new PERUMIN Scholarship, which will award 37 scholarships for young professionals and leaders to participate in PERUMIN 37. Other initiatives included the Student Leaders Program, which encourages students to volunteer at PERUMIN 37, and the launch of the second edition of the storybook The Earth and Its Minerals, featuring literary works by children who participated in the 2023 National Mining School Award.
