PERUMIN Hub, the leading open and collaborative innovation program in the mining sector, has opened submissions for its fourth edition under its “Innovations That Take Off” line of work.

The contest is aimed at those who have innovative proposals and solutions to address the current challenges of the mining sector. The deadline for submissions is June 16 of this year.

Selected participants will have the opportunity to present their projects in a designated space at PERUMIN 37, to be held from September 22 to 26 in Arequipa. This final presentation will be important for connecting with companies in the mining industry, creating opportunities for collaboration, and establishing partnerships to strengthen their initiatives.

The challenges in this edition focus on three thematic areas that are key to the future of mining: Circular and Regenerative Mining, Smart Mining, and New Horizons in Mining.

The contest includes two categories:  

• “Innovations to Be Validated,” which refers to innovative solutions with a prototype in the testing phase, and

• “Successful Innovations,” which refers to solutions that have been approved and validated in a mining company or similar organization within the last three years.

Who May Participate?

Eligible participants include national and international companies, universities, institutes, research centers, R&D&I entities, associations, and NGOs in Peru, depending on each category’s requirements.

Once the submission period ends, the evaluation process will begin. This process consists of three stages: Eligibility, Technical Evaluation, and User-Level Evaluation. The User-Level Evaluation stage includes presentations before decision-makers from Peru’s leading mining companies during Demo Days.

It is worth noting that PERUMIN Hub was created through a partnership between the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP) and the Peruvian Mining Innovation Hub.
