, JUNE 23 2025 PERUMIN Hub Closes Call for Innovative Solutions to the Challenges of the Mining Sector

This year, PERUMIN Hub’s call for proposals focused on challenges in three thematic areas: Circular and Regenerative Mining, Smart Mining, and New Horizons in Mining.

PERUMIN Hub, the leading open and collaborative innovation program in the mining sector, is closing the call for its fourth contest today, a contest under its “Innovations That Take Off” line of work.

The contest targets those who have innovative proposals and solutions to address the current challenges of the mining sector. It is worth noting that PERUMIN Hub was born from the alliance between the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP) and the Peruvian Mining Innovation Hub.

Rafael Estrada, president of PERUMIN Hub, emphasized that the initiative has become a key platform to promote and accelerate innovation in the national mining industry.

“Through a collaborative approach, we continue building bridges between companies and national and international innovation ecosystems, generating tangible impacts on solution development,” he stated.

The shortlisted participants will have the opportunity to present their projects in a designated space at PERUMIN 37, which will take place in Arequipa from September 22 to 26. This final presentation will be important to connect with companies in the mining industry, create opportunities for collaboration, and establish partnerships to strengthen their initiatives.

In addition, thanks to the support of the MinJust project of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), six finalists will have the opportunity to travel to Germany to get a close look at its research, development, and innovation ecosystem. Up to two solutions from startups, SMEs, or academic institutions from Latin America and the Caribbean will be selected in each of the three thematic areas, based on the judges’ evaluation.

After the submission period ends, the evaluation process for all innovative solutions will begin. This process has three stages: eligibility, technical evaluation, and user-level evaluation. The user-level evaluation includes presentations during Demo Days before decision-makers from Peru’s leading mining companies.

Problem solvers may submit their applications until June 23 through the following link:  https://f.mtr.cool/jgnnrhvgoq
