Lima, MAY 16 2025 PERUMIN 37: Historical record! More than 630 Technical Papers Apply for Presentation at The TIS Forum

To date, this is the largest reception of papers since the Mining Convention was held in 2011. One of them will become the National Mining Award, the highest award in the Peruvian mining industry.

Lima, May 16, 2025. The Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP) received a total of 636 abstracts of technical papers submitted for presentation at the Forum of Technology, Innovation and Sustainability – TIS Forum "The most important technical meeting of the mining industry". It will take place in Arequipa from September 22 to 26 as part of PERUMIN 37, which will be held in Cerro Juli, in Arequipa.

This is a record and historic figure, as it is the largest reception of research since the Mining Convention was held in 2011, when 189 technical works were registered. In the last edition of PERUMIN 36 in 2023, 535 abstracts were received.

For this new edition of the TIS Forum, the 618 technical works that will compete for the National Mining Award, the Peruvian mining industry's highest award for professionals related to this activity, are classified into six categories. These are ESG (169), Mining 4.0 (164), Mining Operations and Asset Management (138), Mineral Processing and Extractive Metallurgy (90), Geology and Exploration (39), and Mining Regulation and Mining Economics (36).

Likewise, in the ranking of the companies that have been sending the most abstracts are Southern Peru (37), Compañía Minera Antamina (28), Compañía de Minas Buenaventura (26), Volcan Compañía Minera (23) Sociedad Minera El Brocal – Buenaventura (21), Anglo American Quellaveco (19), Compañía Minera Antapaccay (16), Newmont (16), Universidad Continental (14) and Compañía Minera Poderosa (13).

Now the proposals will be evaluated by a jury made up of professionals in the field and classified for presentation at the TIS Forum of PERUMIN 37, under high criteria of impact, quality and innovation, considering their contribution to the development of the sector and its economic or social benefits. According to the established schedule, the deadline expires on June 13.

The prizes

The winners of each category will have the opportunity to access postgraduate studies and academic trips. Likewise, their works will be published in the Mining Magazine and the One Mine virtual library.

The authors of the papers will also be selected as technical speakers and will be able to access a 50% discount on registration for PERUMIN 37, which will allow them to participate in all the activities of the event such as the EXTEMIN Fair and the conference programs of the event such as the Mining Summit, International Meeting, among others.
