PERUMIN is much more than just an event. The Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP by its Spanish initials) and the PERUMIN 37 Organizing Committee have developed an agenda of technical, entrepreneurial, and decentralized activities, as well as various programs for the country's mining community, which are already underway. They constitute a working path towards the next edition of "The leading mining convention in Latin America and the world", to be held from September 22nd to 26th, 2025, in Arequipa.
Among the main novelties prepared by the PERUMIN 37 Organizing Committee, led by Jimena Sologuren, is the Young Professionals program, aimed at graduates of various careers with a mining vocation, who, from their professional and specialized fields, design proposals that contribute to the sustainability of the industry. They will participate in a classification process, through which they will have the opportunity to access a scholarship to live the experience of being conventioneers at PERUMIN 37.
Similarly, this year the PERUMIN Inspires program will continue in a new edition dedicated to strengthening innovative ideas with a social focus of young people in higher education; PERUMIN Hub, an innovation program aimed at solving the challenges of the mining sector, in its program Unlocking Young Potential; and the National School Mining Award, which will recognize the best work of the country's school children in four categories: tales, theater, model and action of socio-environmental responsibility.
"We are already working on organizing PERUMIN 37 and we invite you to stay tuned to our events and announcements. In addition, our team of professionals are designing a work agenda for the Mining Summit, the Technology, Innovation and Sustainability Forum (TIS Forum), the International Meeting, the Mining Technology Exhibition (EXTEMIN), among other spaces traditionally included in the Mining Convention", explained Jimena Sologuren.
Heading to PERUMIN events
The Organizing Committee has also developed an agenda of events for Heading to PERUMIN, through which it seeks to promote dialogue and open debate on Peruvian mining and to analyze the role that this industry plays in the development of the country. Topics to be addressed include economic reactivation, territorial development, social conflict, ESG policies, competitiveness, among others. Precisely, in May, as part of the work agenda, a session will be held on energy transition and the challenges that industry will face in its decarbonization processes towards the year 2050.
Heading to PERUMIN will also promote meetings with various social actors from Cajamarca, Cusco, Apurímac, Áncash, Ayacucho, Huancavelica, Ica, La Libertad and Arequipa. "What we seek is to foster a dialogue among all stakeholders, which puts on the agenda issues that are crucial for the development of the mining sector and the country. We want to listen to national and sub-national authorities, regional leaders, specialists, and academics, as well as businessmen", said Domingo Drago, president of Heading to PERUMIN.
PERUMIN is currently considered the largest business event in Peru and a reference for the mining industry worldwide, is developed by the IIMP with the purpose of promoting the sustainable development of Peruvian mining through public policy proposals, the training of professionals, the dissemination of scientific and technological knowledge and the exchange of good business practices.
