Lima, JANUARY 27 2025 PERUMIN 37: IIMP launches the PERUMIN Academic Boulevard today

The inaugural call aims to encourage interaction and knowledge exchange, promoting innovation, talent development, and the dissemination of research relevant to the sector.

The Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP) has, for the first time, issued the call for universities and institutions to participate in the PERUMIN Academic Boulevard as part of the PERUMIN 37 Mining Convention.

The call, led by Jimena Sologuren, President of PERUMIN 37, aims to promote interaction and knowledge exchange among academic institutions, the mining community and the general public.

"Our goal is to promote innovation, talent development, and the dissemination of research relevant to the sector in a space that highlights the academic and scientific excellence of the participating universities and institutions," the IIMP explained.

A panel of representatives of the PERUMIN 37 organizing committee will review the proposals. A total of 24 institutions that meet the criteria established for the event will be selected.

The IIMP said that the submission period will close on March 15, while the final selection will take place on May 20, and the final module assignments will be announced on May 30.

The Academic Boulevard includes an area with business rooms, 24 modules, divided into two islands. The modules can accommodate a 1m x 0.5m piece of furniture with an integrated credenza, a 32" monitor and two high chairs.

Additionally, exhibitors will receive two exhibitor badges and ten fair passes per day and will be able to participate in the conference intended for the Academic Boulevard.

Selection Criteria

The criteria for selecting the 24 institutions that will be part of the PERUMIN Academic Boulevard are as follows:

  1. Quality and relevance of the academic proposal (40%)
    They must present innovative academic programs aligned with the demands of the mining, technological, industrial, or other related sectors.
  2. Contribution to the research and innovation ecosystem (40%)
    They must demonstrate relevant research projects in mining, sustainability, energy, emerging technologies, or other related areas.
  3. Impact and dissemination capacity (20%)
    They must propose interactive activities or demonstrations that meaningfully involve attendees, such as workshops, talks, simulations, or dynamic activities, among others.
