Amidst the anniversary celebrations, a new edition of PERUMIN was launched in Arequipa.
The Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP) and the PERUMIN Mining Congress congratulate Arequipa on the celebration of its 484th years of history, traditions and values.
It is worth mentioning that as part of the anniversary celebrations, the Mayor of Arequipa, Víctor Hugo Rivera, presented the Institute with an award, including a diploma and a gold medal, for having organized PERUMIN in the city for 15 years, as well as for its contribution to the economic and tourist development of the region.
The distinction was received by Jimena Sologuren, director of the Institute and president of PERUMIN 37, Rómulo Mucho, former president of the Institute and current minister of Energy and Mines, and Carlos Diez Canseco, general manager of the Institute.
Additionally, the official launch of PERUMIN 37 was held in Arequipa this week. The event will take place from September 22nd to 26th, 2025, under the slogan “Together for more opportunities and well-being for all.”
This reaffirms the importance of unity in building a prosperous and promising future for this region and the country, promoting responsible mining investments that generate well-being and sustainable development.
In this regard, Víctor Hugo Rivera emphasized that PERUMIN is already part of Arequipa, especially due to its role in the growth and economic development of the city. He also celebrated that PERUMIN has been held in Arequipa since 1995 and that the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers, along with the Arequipa Chamber of Commerce, the regional government, and other institutions, is part of the fund that will manage the Cerro Juli Convention Center, the venue for the mining convention.
