The new edition of the National Mining Award seeks to stand out the most innovative progress and best practices in the mining industry.
Participants can submit their abstracts until April 7.
Lima, March 07, 2025.- An opportunity to highlight science and research in mining. The Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP) and the Organizing Committee of PERUMIN 37 opened its call for research papers to be presented during the Technology, Innovation and Sustainability Forum (TIS Forum – carried out within the framework of PERUMIN), and to compete for the distinguished National Mining Award, to be granted during the leading Mining Convention in Latin America and the world.
The purpose of this call and subsequent contest is to encourage and acknowledge the scientific practice and academic production in mining and its contribution to knowledge in the mining sector and in society. Papers will be reviewed by a jury composed of professionals in the field and classified for their presentation in the TIS Forum of PERUMIN 37, to be held in Arequipa, from September 22 to 26, 2025.
Juan Carlos Ortiz, president of the TIS Forum, highlighted this initiative as one of the main recognitions granted by the Peruvian mining industry. Likewise, Mr. Ortiz remarked on the formative practice for the benefit of the authors of the technical papers, who receive training and guidance for effectively presenting their proposals within the framework of the event. “In our latest calls, we have received over 500 submissions, which shows the vocation for science in the mining world and the eagerness to present their contribution to the local and international community. ”
This call is aimed at professionals and students whose research papers and projects provide strategic solutions for the industry. This edition has established six categories related to current mining challenges: Mineral Processing and Extractive Metallurgy; Geology and Exploration; Mining Operations and Asset Management; Mining 4.0; ESG; and Regulation and Mining Economics.
The deadline for submitting abstracts is Monday, April 7, 2025, through the website: https://perumin.com/perumin37/public/es. Entries will be evaluated under high criteria of impact, quality and innovation, considering their contribution to the development of the sector and its economic and social benefits.
Winning entries in each category will receive important awards such as the publication of their papers in the Minería Magazine. Moreover, authors of outstanding papers will be selected as technical presenters. They will receive a 50% discount on PERUMIN 37, which grants access to all the event activities such as EXTEMIN fair and all the event's conference programs Mining Summit, TIS Forum, International Meeting, and more.
