Given the current situation facing our country, we need to open channels of dialogue among all the actors involved in our country’s development, including the national and regional authorities, civil society institutions, the business sector, among others. 

PERUMIN 36, through the Mining Summit, offers an opportunity for doing just this. And, at a decentralized location such as Arequipa, where it also grabs the attention of general public, it enables us to debate and analyze at length how our mining industry can help solve the underlying problems in our society.

The pending task of closing social gaps is now imperative and urgent one in our country. And mining, with its investment capacity and multiplying effect, provides an opportunity we must take advantage of to fulfill this task. For that reason, our slogan for this PERUMIN 36 is “Investment that generates welfare and sustainable development.”

We are convinced that mining investments and their sustainable implementation are a way to promote the welfare of Peruvians. We will find ways and alternatives to do it, and we need everybody’s contribution and work to succeed.
