The Organizing Committee of PERUMIN 36 and the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP) will present the study "Mining in Arequipa", developed by MACROCONSULT, as part of the program of activities for Heading to PERUMIN.
The event will be held on Thursday, August 24 at 9:30 a.m. in person at the Auditorium of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Arequipa and will be transmitted through the IIMP's Facebook and Youtube channels.
Gonzalo Tamayo, partner of MACROCONSULT, will present the evolution of the Mining GDP of Arequipa, the contributions of mining to the dynamization of economic activities, the employment opportunities it has generated and the contribution of resources to the GORE Arequipa and its local governments. An analysis of the opportunities for the creation of a cluster in the southern region is also included, given the synergy that mining has generated with other productive activities.
"Mining in the Arequipa region is much more than extraction; it is an engine of progress that drives economic and social development, generating opportunities for people and contributing to sustainable development. We will share this study as a sign of our commitment to generate a positive impact on our communities and the nation, thus strengthening the dialogue and joint vision towards the future," said Domingo Drago, president of Heading to PERUMIN.
The guest panel includes Julia Torreblanca, Vice President of Corporate Affairs of Minera Cerro Verde; Hugo Rojas Flores, Dean of the Universidad Nacional de San Agustín; and Domingo Drago. Also participating will be Miguel Cardozo, president of PERUMIN 36 Mining Convention and Rohel Sanchez, regional governor of Arequipa and president of the National Assembly of Regional Governments.
It is worth mentioning that the decentralized events Heading to PERUMIN are continuously developed as a prelude to PERUMIN 36th Mining Convention, which this year has as its theme "Investment that generates welfare and sustainable development" and will be held from September 25 to 29 at the Cerro Juli Convention Center in Arequipa.
