• Schoolchildren will receive awards on September 29 at the Closing Ceremony of PERUMIN 36, in the White City of Arequipa.

After a large national participation of elementary and high school students, the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP) announced the winners of the National School Mining Award, which this year has 4 artistic categories: Short Story, Scale Model, Video, and Social Responsibility.

The winning schoolchildren belong to 7 regions of the country: Apurímac, Arequipa, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Tacna, Pasco, and Puno. This reconfirms that our industry is present at a national level, especially in the most remote areas of our country, promoting true decentralization.

"We are very pleased. Not only because we have doubled the number of applications from the previous edition but also because we have received products in Quechua, reinforcing the value of this wonderful culture, which is part of the national identity and multiculturalism in Peru," remarked Carlos Diez Canseco, general manager of the IIMP.

This year the PERUMIN National School Mining Award Contest received 368 participants from 22 regions, who demonstrated their great creativity, knowledge, and their own way of seeing mining in our country.

In recognition of this, the top 3 places in each category will attend the Closing Ceremony of PERUMIN 36th Mining Convention with all expenses paid. There, they will be awarded with LED televisions, laptops, tablets, and trophies, according to the position achieved.

This competition is organized by the Institute of Mining Engineers of Peru (IIMP) with the support of the Professional School of Mining Engineering of the Universidad Católica de Santa María (UCSM).
