The Mining Summit of PERUMIN 36 will include a series of conferences dedicated to analyzing the major challenges and opportunities for the development of the mining industry in Peru. Representatives of the largest mining companies operating in Peru will take part in this event.
This segment will address important issues concerning the mining industry, such as community relations, the quality of local public management, the speed of administrative procedures, and the presence of illegal and informal mining activity, among others.
"On the first day of the Mining Summit, global CEOs will present the challenges they face in developing the mining industry in the region, and on the second day we will have a forum with all the Peruvian CEOS to reflect on the challenges and opportunities we have as a Peruvian mining industry", said Victor Gobitz, president of the Mining Summit of PERUMIN 36.
Among the renowned speakers will be Adolfo Heeren, CEO of Anglo American in Peru, who is in charge of the commissioning of the Quellaveco mine in Moquegua. This operation is the first digital mine in the country and one of the largest investments ever made in the Peruvian mining sector at US$ 5.5 billion.
Oscar González Rocha, Executive President and Director of Southern Copper Corporation, will also participate in this segment. Southern Copper Corporation is a company with an investment portfolio of US$ 8 billion, which includes mining projects such as Tía María, Los Chancas and Michiquillay.
Another prominent attendee will be Juan Luis Kruger, General Manager of Minsur, a Peruvian mining company that operates mining units such as San Rafael, the main tin-producing mine in South America and the fourth in the world, located in Puno, in the south of the country.
This forum will also include the participation of Derek Cooke, president, general manager and director of Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde, one of the main copper mining companies in Peru, located in Arequipa.
Likewise, Eva Arias, executive president of Compañía Minera Poderosa, one of the main gold mining companies in Peru, located in the district and province of Pataz, in the highlands of La Libertad, will also be present.
PERUMIN 36, the leading mining convention in Latin America and the world, is an event organized by the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers to be held from September 25 to 29 at the Cerro Juli Convention Center in Arequipa.
