  • Rohel Sánchez emphasized the importance of inviting the private sector to become a strategic ally for sustainable development.

During his participation in the opening of the EXTEMIN technological fair, held at the Cerro Juli Convention Center in Arequipa, Regional Governor of Arequipa Rohel Sánchez pointed out the need to promote responsible private investment that respects agreements and contracts.

He deemed it important to make the private sector a strategic ally of the State in the country's development: the government, regions, and municipalities should work together. He said we should work for productive human development with a territorial approach in order to boost production.”

Similarly, he highlighted the importance of involving academia in this ecosystem so that its contributions and research can better support the development policies implemented in Peru.

In this regard, he underscored the creation of the Regional Management of Science, Technology, and Innovation, which will allow for research aimed at providing concrete solutions to the city's and the country's problems.

“Today, more than ever, as we face serious issues such as food insecurity and water stress due to the global presence of the El Niño phenomenon, this strategic partnership must be put into action,” he stated. He added that within the framework of this strategic alliance, there is a need to work on caring for our environment.

Finally, Rohel Sánchez expressed his support for the mining convention, an event welcomed by Arequipa, a region heavily engaged in mining and open to world-class events like PERUMIN, which promotes mining investment in the country.

“…because through this, we can indeed guarantee our commitment to sustainable development within the context of working for a better, more united, and reconciled Peru,' he emphasized.

AREQUIPA IS PERUMIN

The mayor of Arequipa, Víctor Hugo Rivera, expressed confidence that PERUMIN 37 will also take place in this city, as it has in recent years. “Arequipa has caught the world’s attention,” he said.

He highlighted that, together with the mayors of José Luis Bustamante and Rivero and Hunter, they worked to ensure the safety of the convention attendees and in this way to project a positive image of the city.

He concluded his speech at the inauguration of EXTEMIN with the following phrase: “Arequipa is PERUMIN, and PERUMIN is in Arequipa.”
