In the presence of both national and international authorities, members of the armed forces, and leaders of the mining industry, the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the beginning of the Technological Mining Exhibition (EXTEMIN). This event, in turn, kicked off the ceremonial proceedings of the PERUMIN 36 Mining Convention.
As mentioned by EXTEMIN’s president, Enrique Alania, the fair includes 1,170 stands in six pavilions. Among them, the projects and international pavilions, which host nine foreign delegations, stand out.
“EXTEMIN features over 700 public and private institutions. That is why we have become one of the main mining exhibitions in the world. We are convinced that technology is a fundamental pillar for the development of our operations," Alania noted.
The Technological Mining Exhibition has become a key event for the development of projects and operations in the mining industry. This platform fosters technological exchange and updating of both the mining sector and the companies that provide products and services.
According to Abraham Chahuan, president of the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP), and Miguel Cardozo, the president of PERUMIN 36, innovation and technology play a crucial role in production processes and are essential for the development and leadership of the industry.
The traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony was also attended by the Canadian ambassador to Peru, Louis Marcotte, who highlighted the presence of major Canadian companies in the country, as well as the participation of over 70 mining suppliers in PERUMIN 36.
“Mining is an industry with a long-term vision. Currently, technology is a fundamental pillar within operations, and we see how the mining industry is evolving. It is important to know about all the resources at our disposal in order to continue developing good practices within the sector," Marcotte emphasized.
The Minister of Energy and Mines, Oscar Vera Gargurevich, praised the presence of various social actors at PERUMIN, as well as the significant portfolio of mining projects in Peru.
“We have been working tirelessly to launch a portfolio of 43 mining projects valued at over USD 53 billion. In this sense, we are reaffirming the country's commitment to promoting investments and unlocking projects, as their implementation will bring progress to more Peruvians," Vera pointed out.
Finally, there was a tour of the fair, where the authorities had the opportunity to learn more about the participating companies and to thank various institutions for their participation in PERUMIN 36.
