A total of 38% of Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde’s spending on goods and services was allocated to local suppliers as part of the company’s social commitment and strategic partnerships in the area of influence. Total contract spending reached $2.482 billion, with $960 million awarded to regional companies.
At PERUMIN 36, Daniela Paz, Commodities Manager of Cerro Verde, highlighted that as of 2022, the mining company had secured supply contracts totaling $1.477 billion, with $566 million (38%) of that amount being awarded to 171 local suppliers.
Of the total, $815 million was spent with domestic suppliers and $94 million with international suppliers. The company worked with 796 companies.
Daniela Paz also noted that the spending on outsourced services exceeded $1.005 billion, with $394 million (39%) going to a total of 265 local contractors.
National contractors received $491 million, and foreign contractors received $118 million.
This year, in addition to contracts for goods and services, the mining company manages specialized contracts for mechanical and electrical maintenance with 140 contractors and has 18 active contracts with local and international transportation companies.
According to Daniela Paz, Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde sees the daily entry of 4,400 contractors, and during "plant shutdowns," this number increases by another 2,700.
