PERUMIN 36 will feature Peru's leading steel manufacturing and marketing company, Aceros Arequipa. This company will share with attendees its portfolio of solutions for the mining industry and its commitment to circular economy in order to reduce the impact of its processes. “We have favorable expectations. That encourages us to continue growing within the sector,” said Hugo Vargas, the industrial sales manager, in this interview.

What are Aceros Arequipa's expectations for PERUMIN?

Our expectations are focused on being able to showcase to our customers and target audience the wide range of products we have available to serve the mining industry, the benefits of these products, our technology and quality. We are also focused on sharing with attendees our business philosophy, the high standards we maintain, and the advancements achieved in the development of new products for the mining market.

What portfolio of innovations will you present at the mining convention?

At Aceros Arequipa, we have a wide range of products for the industry in general and mining in particular, including electro welded meshes, helical bars, splitbolts, and beams for formwork, among others.

In addition, ACEDIM Soluciones Integrales provides collaborative engineering technology with our BIM service and industrialized preassembled steel structures ready for installation.

How important is the mining sector for the company's business?

Mining is of paramount importance for the country. We are a predominantly mining country with an ancestral tradition, with this industry being the primary source of foreign currency for our nation. This sector holds significant importance for the steel industry, not just because of the direct sales involved but also because of all the other industries and activities that develop alongside mining while supporting and serving it, such as metalworking and the automotive industries.

How does Aceros Arequipa contribute to the mining industry’s productivity and sustainability?

We contribute by providing high-quality and technologically advanced products and solutions, locally developed in some cases, based on a circular economy approach aimed at reducing environmental impact. How much do you expect sales and production to grow in the mining market?

This year, mining investment has decreased by 19.2% due to the absence of large-scale projects. This decline in mining investment is attributed primarily to the current local political situation, as well as the social conflict associated to this activity. Despite this situation, we have favorable expectations, which enables us to continue growing within the sector.
