Federico Tarazona: Energia Peruana has distributed 5.2 Mw of energy for different areas of PERUMIN

For the fourth time in a row, Energia Peruana will be the strategic provider of constant and safe electrical power for PERUMIN 36. This time, it will provide energy equivalent to 25 generators, through a complete service that includes the design of the coverage strategy as well as technical support, according to the Manager, Federico Tarazona Gonzalez. With the momentum of the mining convention, the company expects to double its customer base.

What are the expectations of Energia Peruana in relation to PERUMIN 36?

At Energia Peruana, we are fully committed to the development of the mining industry in Peru. Over the past few years, we have strongly supported PERUMIN to ensure the supply of electricity at 100%, allowing this critical event to meet its objectives of promoting mining in our country.

Our collaboration does not only demonstrate our high level of commitment and compliance with standards, but also highlights our constant effort to deliver the best service, in the shortest possible time, with maximum reliability, high levels of safety and environmental friendliness, to help our customers with their temporary power needs and to maximize their profitability by minimizing losses due to power outages.

This event provides us with the opportunity to show our energy solutions to Peru and the world, as well as a chance to reconnect with new strategic partners and customers interested in operating with maximum reliability to optimize their operations and profitability. We are happy to contribute to the success of PERUMIN 36 as we did in the 33rd, 34th and 35th editions and to the sustainable growth of the Peruvian mining industry.

What specific services will the company provide to the mining convention?

Our offer is defined as a comprehensive power solution designed to ensure the uninterrupted flow of the event, even in the event of grid power outages.

To this end, we have prioritized the implementation of our generators as the main source of energy in the convention's critical areas and activities. In addition, we have equipped other areas with backup systems that will be activated immediately in case of grid power outages.

We have allocated a total of 5.2 megawatts (MW) of energy, strategically distributed in different areas of the event, which is equivalent to 25 generators. Our service includes the design of the coverage strategy, the equipment preparation, transportation, installation, maintenance, operation and technical support throughout the event.

The key to our service lies in careful planning and rapid response to emergency requirements. Working in advance allows us to offer a solid and reliable solution. Therefore, we are proud to inform you that we have arrived at PERUMIN with all our equipment more than 3 weeks prior to the event, demonstrating our commitment to service excellence.

How do you contribute to energy and air safety for the mining operation?

We contribute to safety in mining operations by providing specialized services in two key areas:

Uninterrupted Power Supply: We guarantee a reliable source of electrical power through generators and backup systems, minimizing the risk of unscheduled shutdowns.

Compressed Air Supply: We offer high quality compressed air with sufficient flow and pressure (up to 350 PSI) to support operations, ensuring the safety and efficiency of equipment and machinery.

In addition, our preventive maintenance and continuous technical support increase operational reliability and reduce risks in the mining operation, providing constant safety for workers and continuity of operations.

What are the main challenges in energy sustainability in Peruvian mining?

The main challenges in energy sustainability in Peruvian mining include the need to balance the growing demand for energy with the search for more sustainable practices. While diesel is a common fuel in the industry due to high energy demands, the focus is on finding a balance between operational efficiency and reducing environmental impacts.

Key challenges include improving energy efficiency, responsible waste management and diversification of energy sources. While the full transition to cleaner energy can be costly and challenging, Peruvian mining is committed to more sustainable practices and seeks to adopt technologies and strategies that enable responsible development in connection with its energy demands.

How will you increase your participation in the mining sector and how much do you aspire to grow?

At Energia Peruana, we consider our values to be the fundamental tools to provide service-based excellence and increase our participation in the mining sector.

We prioritize safety, environmental friendliness, integrity, trust and active listening to our customers' needs. We maintain the highest standards of excellence in every area of our business and encourage teamwork focused on innovation and continuous improvement based on customer service.

Our goal for 2024 is to double our customer base requiring temporary power in +10 MW solutions and also in our sales area with individual sales and solutions involving generators, air compressors and lighting towers, for which we are perfectly prepared.

What new projects with mining companies will you be implementing in the near future?

It is a very dynamic sector and there are always new opportunities whether in new mining projects or in other established projects where they are constantly looking for efficiencies and to raise the standards of service that their business partners can offer.

Thanks to our technology development, we are currently working on the first stage of development of 20 MW in synchronism solutions for two major mining companies in Peru. The challenge is to offer them 100% reliability in the power supply, and to this end, we have been working together with them to design robust solutions that minimize any risk and guarantee continuous operation.

The formula for doing so lies in the professionalism of our team and in the confidence that we develop day by day with the engineers and technicians of the user areas of every operation.
