The event will be open to the public and will take place on Sunday, November 12, at 6:00 p.m. in San Francisco Square, Arequipa.
The book “The Earth and Its Minerals”, published by the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP), will be presented at the Hay Festivalito, a program for children that is part of the prestigious cultural event Hay Festival Arequipa.
“We are very excited that our book of stories is part of the Hay Festival; this is a valuable opportunity to showcase the creations of Peruvian children related to mining as an important activity for the development of their cities," says Carlos Diez Canseco, the general manager of the IIMP, who will be present at the event.
The book contains 90 stories created by elementary school students from 15 regions of the country who competed for the 'National School Mining Award' during the PERUMIN 35 Mining Convention held in 2022.
Through the children's creativity, this work brings both adults and children closer to modern and responsible mining activities, addressing topics such as the use of minerals, the environment, and the traditions of the country's regions.
The presentation of the book at the Hay Festival will be open to the public and will take place on Sunday, November 12, at 6:00 p.m. in San Francisco Square in the city of Arequipa.
The event will be attended by Carlos Diez Canseco, Doris Zuzunaga, a specialist in music pedagogy through games, and Alexis Valverde, a storyteller, who will read a selection of the winning stories from the school competition.
