Lima, JANUARY 4 2024 PERUMIN Inspira's Winning Venture, Cachimboz, Surpasses 250,000 Downloads

Cachimboz is the application of the startup "Prepaso," the winner of PERUMIN Inspira in 2023. Today, Prepaso is expanding its reach in Latin America and is working on incorporating artificial intelligence to improve its system.

Prepaso is one of the three winning ventures in the High-Impact Startup category of PERUMIN Inspira 2023. This project includes a web platform and a mobile application called Cachimboz, which allows young people to prepare for university admission from home and at a low cost. Although it started in Cusco, it is currently being used across Latin America.

“Our target audience is pre-university students and those still in school. We cover more than 20 universities in Peru, as well as universities in Latin America. Almost 5% of the 250,000 Cachimboz downloads are from Mexico, and there is also a percentage from Bolivia and Ecuador," explains Wilson Ccopa, founder of Prepaso, in an interview with the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers.

Wilson's initiative was born in 2018, when the Apurímac native went to Cusco to start his university studies and realized how expensive it was to prepare for the university entrance exam, including the cost of cram schools, transportation, food, housing, etc. For this reason, he designed an application to bring education closer to students, which he named "Cachimboz" and launched in October 2021.

"That is when I started designing the application, without any resources, without any money, honestly. And in the first month of the launch, we had more than 10,000 students who were waiting for the application. That was when we saw that the need was great, and we started to develop the project until today," he explains.

In 2023, Prepaso won PERUMIN Inspira, a program held within the context of PERUMIN 36. As a result, it received S/15,000 in seed capital from the program's allies (Minera Poderosa, Orica and Moquegua Crece). In addition, it continues to receive guidance from the Kaman Business Incubator at the Universidad Católica San Pablo, as well as from the law firm Benites, Vargas & Ugaz Abogados; mentoring sessions from the ADN Partners Accelerator; and virtual workshops with Tecsup.

PERUMIN Inspira was one of the most important competitions I have participated in, not only because of the seed capital, which helped us a lot to improve the business model we have and to have a vision to aim higher and not just focus on one region. Every day of the final was very interesting, and there was an atmosphere of mutual support among the finalists; I did not feel a sense of competition, but of support," he expressed.

The leader and founder of Prepaso said that this year they aim to strengthen the career guidance they offer through in their system, especially for high school students. They also want to incorporate artificial intelligence to make the learning process easier and faster for young people.

To access the available courses, you can visit the website https://prepaso.com/ or download the app called "Cachimboz," available for Android through Play Store. It is worth mentioning that they are also working on a version for iOS.
