This edition of PERUMIN Hub presents two lines of work "Innovations that take off" and "Young people who transform", the first of which is developing a contest aimed at those who have innovative proposals and solutions to meet the current challenges of the mining sector. Therefore, applications will be received until June 12.
Participants will compete for a preferential space to present their project at PERUMIN 36, to be held September 25-29 in Arequipa, as well as the opportunity to approach mining companies and relevant actors in the ecosystem with a view to implementing or scaling up the innovation.
The main challenges to which the proposals must offer solutions are grouped into 3 thematic areas: Shared Value, Environment and Sustainability, and Mining 4.0, which encompass 10 industry challenges.
In addition, the competition has three categories: Innovations to be validated, which refers to innovative solutions that have a prototype to be validated; Successful innovations, those that have already been approved and validated in a mining company or similar in the last three years; and Innovative collaborative models, for solutions that have as their axis the work model and potential impact of mining through the generation of shared value.
National and international companies, universities, institutes, research centers, R&D4 entities, associations and national and international NGOs may participate, according to the considerations of each category.
Once the period for submitting applications is over, all the innovative solutions will be evaluated in three stages: Technical evaluation; User level evaluation, where they will present their proposals in Demo Days with decision makers from the main mining companies in Peru; and the finalists exhibition and last evaluation to be held during PERUMIN 36.
It is worth mentioning that PERUMIN Hub, the main mining innovation program in the country, takes place within the framework of PERUMIN 36 Mining Convention and arises from the alliance between the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP) and the Mining Innovation Hub of Peru.
