The book "The Earth and Its Minerals", edited by the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP), has 90 stories written by elementary school children from different regions of the country.

The book "The Earth and its Minerals", edited by the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP), will be presented at the 44th edition of the "Ricardo Palma" Fair in Miraflores, Lima.

The presentation, organized by the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers and the Universidad Católica de Santa María of Arequipa, will have the presence of the general manager of the IIMP, Carlos Diez Canseco, and the director of the School of Mining Engineering of said university, Patricia Lopez Casaperalta.

The book has 90 stories written by elementary school children from 15 regions of the country who participated in the National School Mining Award contest within the framework of the PERUMIN 35th Mining Convention, held in 2022.

The purpose of the publication is to raise awareness of responsible mining through the creativity of children. Therefore, this work allows young and old alike to understand the good practices of modern and responsible mining.

It also seeks to make children understand that formal mining brings progress and development to the Peruvian people. That is why many of the stories tell, from the children's perspective, how life has improved with the arrival of mining companies.

The book presentation will be at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28, in the Blanca Varela auditorium of the Ricardo Palma Fair. Admission is free, but seating will be limited to 70 people.

The 44th edition of the Ricardo Palma Fair is being held in the emblematic Kennedy Park in Miraflores, on Diagonal Avenue. Its opening hours are from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm. The place has 100 stands and three auditoriums.

The fair, organized by the Municipality of Miraflores and the Peruvian Chamber of Books, was inaugurated on November 24 and will be open to the public until Sunday, December 10.
