A Chilean delegation, headed by the Undersecretary of Mining, Suina Chahuán Kim, will visit the Cerro Verde mining unit, one of the main copper and molybdenum producers, located in the city of Arequipa, in southern Peru, on September 25.
The officials from the neighboring country will visit the La Enlozada wastewater treatment plant, a project financed by the copper company, which treats wastewater from Metropolitan Arequipa and contributes to the recovery of the Chili River.
The tour will also include the SX-EW industrial plant, the concentrator plant, among other points of the mining operation located in southern Peru.
Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde, a company of the Freeport-McMoRan economic group, has positioned itself as the main copper producer with a 19% share and as the main molybdenum producer with a 33% share.
Chile in PERUMIN 36
The Undersecretary of Mining of the Government of President Gabriel Boric and the delegation of officials accompanying her arrived in Arequipa to participate in PERUMIN 36th Mining Convention, which will be held from September 25 to 29 at the Cerro Juli Convention Center.
In this edition of the Mining Convention, Chile will also be present with 20 companies and institutions -such as ProChile-, with a total of 24 stands in the EXTEMIN technology fair. It will also showcase solutions for the mining industry.
