Inclusion and Diversity Summit
Closing the gaps in women's participation in mining

Welcome to the first Diversity and Inclusion Summit at PERUMIN.

In recent years, the value and the benefits of the organizations that incorporate diversity and inclusion as part of their corporate culture have been discussed with great emphasis around the world. The mining industry in Peru has been no exception and has focused its conversation and efforts on one of the various types of diversity: women.

This summit is entitled “Closing the gaps in women’s participation in mining” and will have two blocks. The first block will address the vision of public policies in mining in terms of gender. Here the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) will tell us about the main challenges and opportunities for women’s participation in the mining sector, followed by an interesting panel where we will hear about the vision of authorities from the mining sectors in Peru, Ecuador, and Argentina, who will reflect on the progress and challenges in their countries.

The second block will focus on the local level, and the challenges and opportunities in Peru for closing the gaps from the point of view of different stakeholders, namely the government, the mining company, suppliers, and the international community.

In addition, and in order to make an academic contribution, we will present, for the first time, the study entitled “Women and mining of the future,” which was conducted in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

Our purpose is to discuss the situation of female diversity and inclusion in the sector and formulate proposals from a comprehensive perspective.

We invite the entire the mining community to join this important space for multistakeholder reflection. The summit will take place on Wednesday, September 28, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:35 p.m., in the Herbert del Carpio Room at Cerro Juli. We look forward to seeing you!
