The provincial mayor reiterated the city's role as a major convention center. He also highlighted the value of the agreements between political authorities and businesspeople.
Víctor Hugo Rivera, provincial mayor of Arequipa, indicated that PERUMIN has become part of Arequipa, especially in its growth and economic development. This was said at the launching of PERUMIN 37, mining convention that will take place in Arequipa from September 22nd to 26th next year.
Rivera also celebrated that PERUMIN has been held in Arequipa since 1995 and that the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP), together with the Chamber of Commerce of Arequipa, the regional government, and other institutions, is part of the fund that will manage Cerro Juli convention center, where the mining event is held biennially.
Likewise, Rivera highlighted that when political authorities join the businesspeople, it is possible to move in the same direction, under compliance with the regulations and the law. “As mayor, I am always interested in consensus because it boosts the economy. Arequipa welcomes you with arms wide open and a good hotel capacity as it is part of the development and economic growth,” he said.
Lastly, the mayor also remarked that Arequipa could have up to three convention centers due to its hotel capacity, gastronomy, and the pleasant climate it has most of the year.
