LIMA, SEPTEMBER 15 2021 Yanacocha Sulphides: Tom Palmer, CEO of Newmont, will participate in Heading to PERUMIN

Tom Palmer, CEO of Newmont, the company that owns the Yanacocha Sulphides project, will be one of the main speakers at Heading PERUMIN - Bicentennial Edition, a space for open and decentralized debate organized by the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP), which will be held online from September 20 to 24.

The senior executive will be part of the "Competitive fiscal policy" block scheduled for September 22, which will broaden the outlook on this issue, previously addressed by other prominent representatives of the public and private sectors, academia and international organizations.

Yanacocha Sulphides is one of the major projects that will boost private investment in Peru and is considered in the projections of the Multiannual Macroeconomic Framework (MMF) 2022-2025). It involves an investment of USD 2.1 billion, for the production of copper, gold and silver, with a technological change in its processing. It is expected to start operations in 2025.

About Heading to PERUMIN

Heading to PERUMIN is an initiative of the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP) and the Executive Committee of PERUMIN 35. It is the prelude to the 35th edition of the traditional Mining Convention, which will take place in 2022.

The event includes presentations and discussion panels on the issues that set the national agenda, such as long-term mining policy, taxation, development of new mining projects and their impact on the regions, sustainability and the value chain in mining, among others.

Heading to PERUMIN - Bicentennial Edition will also present a virtual fair with the participation of public and private mining organizations. Through a state-of-the-art interactive platform, they will present the sustainable development practices carried out in their respective fields.
