Lima, MAY 2 2022 Rumbo a PERUMIN edition on Pasco, Junín and Lima provinces, will bring together authorities, business representatives and specialists

Government authorities and officials, directors and leaders of private companies and spokespeople for civil associations will congregate in the decentralized event Rumbo a PERUMIN “Consensus for the progress of central Peru”, which is being organized by the Executive Committee of PERUMIN 35 and the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP).

This edition will take place on May 3, 4 and 5 and will bring together leading players related to mining to present and discuss topics such as the current socio-economic scenario in Pasco, Junín and Lima provinces, the recent events of the extractive sector in this region and the opportunities for closing gaps and for the development of the communities.

Impact and potential of mining in central Peru

According to the organizers, the inauguration of Rumbo a PERUMIN is programmed for Tuesday, May 3, at 6 pm and it will be led by its President, Eng. Miguel Cardozo and the regional governor of Pasco, Pedro Ubaldo.

It will be followed by a block of conferences with the participation of Rudy Laguna, Director of the Center for Competitiveness and Development (CCD); Jorge Merino, former Vice Minister of Mines; Ángel Álvarez, President of Centauro Exploraciones; and Luis Miguel Incháustegui, Director of Candente Copper Corp., who will offer valuable information about the impact and potential of mining in the regions of central Peru.

There will also be a space for a panel of experts to exchange points of view regarding the topics that will be addressed. The group will consist of Carlos Enrique Alva, President of the Congress Mining Committee; Jorge Acosta, Director of Mining and Energy Resources of Ingemmet; Gilmar León, Head of the School of Mines of the UNCP; and Aldo De la Cruz, Vice President of Operations of Volcan Compañía Minera.

Territory development in central Peru

On Wednesday, the 4th, there will be a new block of conferences with the participation of Elmer Huamán, independent consultant and MEF advisor; Diego Macera, General Manager of the IPE; Milton von Hesse, Director of Videnza Consultores; Gabriel Daly, manager of Economic Policy and Development of CONFIEP; Darío Zegarra, President of Alianza en Obras por Impuestos (ALOXI); and Alfonso Velásquez, former Executive President of Sierra y Selva Exportadora.

There will also be a panel with the participation of Walter Casquina, Professor from the School of Mining Engineers of Universidad Continental; Rodolfo Beltrán, Regional Director of Earthday for South America, Yanina Traverso, former President of the Huancayo Chamber of Commerce; and Augusto Fernandini, founding member of Agroforestal Sungaro.

Finally, on Thursday 5, there will be presentations by Francisco Santa Cruz, coordinator of the Human Development Reports of Perú, from the UNDP; Pedro Ubaldo Polinar, regional governor of Pasco; and Ricardo Port, CEO of Nexa Perú.

It will be followed by the panel formed by Jhoel Rivera, President of the Federation of Community Companies; Carlos Loret de Mola, CEO of Lifesystems; Pedro Laureano, former Government Official of Pasco and Carlos Yupanqui, Rector of the National University Daniel Alcides Carrión.

At the end there will be a round table with presentations by Antonio Montenegro, General Manager of Activos Mineros and Consultant Marita Chappuis; as well as a panel formed by these two specialists and Álvaro Barrenechea, Vice President of the Peruvian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce.

 Closing considerations

 The closure of Rumbo a PERUMIN “Consensus for the progress of central Peru” will have the participation of the President of PERUMIN 35, Claudia Cooper; the President of the IIMP, Abraham Chahuán; and the regional governor of Cuzco, Jean Paul Benavente.
