Lima, APRIL 19 2022 PERUMIN: Approximately 500 technical works will compete for the National Mining Award

The Technology, Innovation and Sustainability Forum (TIS Forum) of PERUMIN 35 received almost 500 summaries of technical works by the time the deadline for the presentation was closed last Friday, April 15, as confirmed by the Organizing Committee of this mining event, which will take place in Arequipa this year.

Eng. Roberto Maldonado, President of the TIS Forum, pointed out that this event will bring together a broad community of professionals connected to the mining industry, who will present their research proposals for the permanent improvement of the sector in its different work areas.

“In this new edition of the TIS Forum, participants will present their technical works in eight areas of research that are key for the mining sector. They will also be able to compete for the National Mining Award, which is the maximum recognition of the industry for the mining professionals”, she added.

Mr. Maldonado, also Vice President of the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers indicated that the National Mining Award is an incentive that encourages our Peruvian researchers to generate greater knowledge to develop better practices in our industry.

“Mining represents endless opportunities to develop scientific research in different areas of the business, such as geology and exploration, processing and production, treatment of natural resources, and others”, he underscored.

According to the timeline, the results of the selected summaries will be disclosed on May 9. Meanwhile, a coaching workshop is programmed to strengthen the soft skills of those shortlisted.

Furthermore, the reception of the works in full will take place on June 25, while the results of the full works selected will be disclosed on July 11. Finally, during the third week of July, there will be a workshop for the selected researchers.

It is worth mentioning that this new edition of the National Mining Award presents 8 categories: Geology and Explorations; Mining Operations; Mineral Processes; Environmental Management; Social Management; Mining Research and Technology; Mining Economics and Legal and Tax.
