Lima, JULY 19 2022 PERUMIN 35 to include an Inclusion and Diversity Summit among their novelties

PERUMIN 35th edition will include a summit aimed to include Inclusion and Diversity into the agenda, and to promote a larger participation of women in the mining workplace, which accounts for 6% of jobs in the mining sector of Peru.

The Inclusion and Diversity Summit is organized by Women in Mining Perú (WIM Perú) and the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP). The event is planned to be held on Wednesday September 28 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. as part of PERUMIN 35, in Cerro Juli, Arequipa.

“It is the first time this important topic is being addressed as blocks at PERUMIN mining convention, which we considered a great precedent for everyone,” told Graciela Arrieta, President of WIN Perú.

As per the program, it is expected to have two blocks. The first block aimed to discuss and exchange experiences regarding the situation of female diversity and participation in the national and international mining sector. The second block aims to make proposals from an entrepreneurial and academic viewpoint.

Women in Mining Perú is a not-for-profit association born in 2016. Its main goal is to put emphasis on women’s participation in the Peruvian mining sector, promoting their personal growth, fostering best corporate practices of diversity and inclusion, and increasing their presence in various mining fields at all levels.

PERUMIN is one of the largest mining conventions in the world. It is a meeting point for national and international delegations, authorities, business representatives, professionals and experts from the sector, and academia members, resulting in an appropriate context to address topics like Inclusion and Diversity and discuss about their implications in the mining industry.

PERUMIN will take place in presence from the 26 to the 30 of September at Cerro Juli Convention Center in Arequipa.
