Primary and secondary students from private and public schools from around the country may send their artworks focused on good practices in the mining sector until September 2, to participate in the “School Mining Award” contest. Prizes will be granted to the winners at the closing ceremony PERUMIN 35 Mining Convention to be held from the 26 to the 30 of September in Arequipa.
The contest, organized by the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP), with the support of the Professional School of Mining Engineers from the Universidad Católica de Santa María (UCSM), aims at stimulating interest and promoting knowledge, research and creativity in the characteristics of mining activity in Peru among primary and secondary students from all regions of Peru.
“Through this contest, we are trying to promote and recognize talented expressions of kids and adolescents about mining, and to spread the modern, efficient and responsible management of current mining in these new generations,” held Claudia Cooper, President of PERUMIN 35.
Students participating may register their artworks such as short stories, videos, and virtual prototypes, together with their teams that must be composed of the candidate, one school representative (director) and one adviser (schoolteacher).
Various prizes will be granted to the first three places of the contest like LED TVs, laptops, notebooks and tablets. In addition, they will have the opportunity to attend one of the largest mining summits in the world: PERUMIN 35 Mining Convention, with all travel and accommodation expenses paid (in case not living in Arequipa).
