Lima, JUNE 30 2022 Mining Thursday: Today UNDP will analyze the Human Development Index in Apurímac, Cusco, and Puno

This week, at Mining Thursday, an event organized by the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP), an important conference will focus on the Human Development Index (HDI) in the mining regions of Apurímac, Cusco, and Puno, located in the highlands of southern Peru.

The presentation will be given by special guest Francisco Santa Cruz, coordinator of Human Development Reports for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), who will address this topic from both a historical and a future perspective.

There will also be a panel discussion featuring Fausto Salinas Lovon, partner at Salinas & Tamayo Law Firm and former president of the Chamber of Commerce of Cusco (CDC); Víctor Andrés Ponce, director of El Montonero portal; and Luis Vargas Barbieri, director of Minas y Petróleo weekly journal and general manager of G y G Servicios Generales.

It is worth noting that the HDI is an indicator used to measure the development of countries and regions in a way that reflects the actual situation of the population. To do so, the HDI measurement is based on three basic aspects, namely: life expectancy, education, and income.

This session is part of the series of decentralized conferences Rumbo a PERUMIN – Southeastern Peru Edition, which preludes PERUMIN 35, a world-class event that will run from September 26 to 30, 2022, in Arequipa.
