The manager of Corporate Affairs and Business Development of Las Bambas, Carlos Castro, said that Las Bambas’ commitment is precisely with a long-term focus.

"To this end, we have also supported the development of the Apurímac competitiveness plan and the Cotabambas development plan; the generation of employment in the region has also been key, especially our contribution to young people who are the future of Apurímac and the country", said Carlos Castro.

He also revealed that the mining company currently contributes a contractual royalty of 3% of sales to Apurímac.

Thus, in Heading to PERUMIN – an event organized by the Organizing Committee of PERUMIN 35 Mining Convention and the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP) - Carlos Castro emphasized that under this concept Las Bambas has already transferred more than S/ 1.3 billion to this region, located in the Southern mining corridor.

He also pointed out that, through the Las Bambas mine, employment increased more than 3 times and in the construction phase more than 7 times. It also led to improvement in infrastructure (generated by mining) and it has stimulated markets and boosted development.

“That is our vision for Apurímac and at Las Bambas we feel very proud to already be contributing in an outstanding way to the growth of the region; but beyond the figures, what matters to us is to be recognized as a strategic ally for the sustainable development of Apurímac, thinking in a long-term systemic approach”, he said.
