ÁNCASH, OCTOBER 27 2021 GORE Ancash: "Mining generates public resources to close gaps"

  • This Wednesday, October 27th, Rumbo a PERUMIN kicked off its decentralized "Territorial Development and Mining in Ancash" conference, a new meeting that seeks to highlight the impact of mining in this region.

During his participation in the opening ceremony of the decentralized "Territorial Development and Mining in Ancash" conference, the general manager of the Regional Government (GORE) of Ancash, Victor Sichez, highlighted the importance of the mining industry for his territory.

"I would like to welcome all the representatives of the private companies and tell them that the 'Territorial Development and Mining in Ancash' topic is important for closing gaps and reducing poverty in our region," he said.

He also pointed out that the Ancash economy has been concentrated in the mining sector and has managed to excel above the national average.

Promoting employment and generating resources

The president of Rumbo a PERUMIN, Miguel Cardozo, explained that this new decentralized event in Ancash aims at analyzing the development perspectives for mining focused on the region.

It also seeks to generate dialogue on the opportunities generated by the industry for the well-being of the population.

"From that perspective, we believe that betting on mining is the right alternative to promote employment and generate the resources the region needs to close social gaps and improve basic services such as health and education. Furthermore, and as the industry has demonstrated in the last year and a half, it is a fundamental ally to face the crisis that our country is facing due to the pandemic," said Miguel Cardozo.

Analysis blocks

The event began on Wednesday, October 27, with the "Impact and Potential of mining in Ancash" presentation.

On Thursday, October 28, the second day of the conference, the organization will hold the "Territorial Development Plan and Regional Competitiveness" block, a space that will open the debate on the importance of mining for the economy, education, and health.

Both days will be attended by important regional officials, representatives of mining companies operating in Ancash, and academia.
