From January to November 2021, Peru produced 88.2 million fine grams of gold and 20.8% of the total was produced in Cajamarca, making it the second region with the largest gold extraction, according to the mining statistical bulletin of the Ministry of Energy and Mines.
During those months, Cajamarca registered a production of 18.339 million fine grams of gold, although this amount was 11% less than the volume obtained during the same period of 2020 (20.613 million fine grams of gold).
Nevertheless, in November, Cajamarca reported a 13.3% increase in production, from 1.794 million to 2.033 million of fine grams of gold.
The total accumulated in eleven months positioned Cajamarca behind La Libertad (28 million) and ahead of Arequipa (16.3 million) Ayacucho (9.2 million) Cuzco (4 million) Puno (3.3 million) Tacna (2.1 million) among other regions that produce gold.
Rumbo a PERUMIN Cajamarca
As part of its activities, the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers of Peru and the Organizing Committee of PERUMIN 35 will hold the decentralized event Rumbo a PERUMIN, which this time will focus on the mining region of Cajamarca and will be held on February 16 and 17.
Under the slogan “Consensuses for the progress of Cajamarca”, this new edition will be a space for analysis and debate and to address the current situation of mining in Cajamarca, the opportunities of the sector for the communities and the challenges for the socio-economic development of the region.
The event will include a program of technical and commercial conferences and they will be broadcast through its official channels: Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/PeruminOficial) and YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/c/Perumin) so that they may be viewed by the public in general.
