Cajamarca, JANUARY 27 2022 Cajamarca hosts more than 50% of gold reserves

Cajamarca is the region with the largest gold mineral reserves in Peru, as disclosed by the 2020 Map of main mining projects and exploration units, of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem).

According to the Minem report, Cajamarca has 1,402 fine tons of gold between probable and proven reserves, which accounts for 52% of the total reserves of Peru, which amount to 2,694 tons.

Of the total of 287 mining projects included in the report, 20 are located in Cajamarca and in different stages of development.

For example, the mining projects in the mine construction portfolio are Conga, El Galeno, La Granja, Michiquillay, Quecher Main and Yanacocha Sulfuros.

The mining exploration portfolio includes the projects Cerro Negro, La Quinua, La Zanja, San José 1, Shahuindo and Tantahuatay 4.

In turn, the following projects are in the advanced exploration stage (semi detailed EIA): Castrejón, Colpayoc and Pampa Verde.

Finally, the following mining projects are still in the early exploration stage (DIA): Anta Norte, La Chilca, Pampa Colorada, Totora and Yagku Entsa.

Minera Yanacocha S.R.L. is the company with the highest activity in six of these mining projects.

Rumbo a PERUMIN Cajamarca

As part of its activities, the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers of Peru and the Organizing Committee of PERUMIN 35 will hold the decentralized event Rumbo a PERUMIN, which this time will focus on the mining region of Cajamarca and will be held on February 16 and 17.

Under the slogan “Consensuses for the progress of Cajamarca”, this new edition will be a space for analysis and debate and to address the current situation of mining in Cajamarca, the opportunities of the sector for the communities and the challenges for the socio-economic development of the region.

The event will include a program of technical and commercial conferences and they will be broadcast through its official channels: Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/PeruminOficial) and YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/c/Perumin) so that they may be viewed by the public in general.
