According to the contest rules, prizes for the educational institutions range from S/3,000 to S/5,000.
To encourage children’s interest in the development of the mining industry in Peru, the Organizing Committee of PERUMIN 37 announced the call for the third edition of the National School Mining Award, contest organized by the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP) with the support of the Professional School of Mining Engineers from the Universidad Católica de Santa María of Arequipa (UCSM).
Tomás Gonzales, president of the National School Mining Award, informed that the initiative is aimed at elementary, middle, and high school students from public and private schools in all the Peruvian regions. All categories will accept entries in Spanish and Quechua.
The contest comprises four categories: short story for students from 1st to 3rd grade of elementary school, and the Theater category for 4th to 6th grade of elementary school.
Students from 1st to 3rd grade of middle school will participate through a scale model presentation, meanwhile, students from 4th to 5th grade of high school will participate in the Social and Environmental Responsibility Action category.
Each student must be accompanied by a teacher, as an advisor, and must be enrolled by the principal or representative of the educational institution.

Gonzales explained that each educational institution may register up to 02 teams per category, which is to say, a maximum of 8 teams, by filling out the following form https://forms.gle/4DRnMZUAbYzqxzbs8.
The deadline for the reception of works and registration of teams is June 27. The list of winners will be published on August 04 in all the IIMP and UCSM’s media.
It should be noted that all works submitted must be unpublished; therefore, stories, videos, scale models that have been published, exhibited, or awarded in other events will not be accepted.
