A total of eight mining companies covered the travel and accommodation expenses for the attendees.
Homar Lozano, president of PERUMIN Jóvenes, highlighted the participation of eight delegations of students and graduates in the first youth event organized by the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers—participation made possible by the support of an equal number of mining companies.
The purpose of the event was to showcase the opportunities the mining industry offers to young professionals, university students, and technicians, in order to enhance their education and contribution to the sustainability of the sector.
The companies that covered the costs of the eight delegations in this edition are Newmont, Minera Poderosa, Cerro Verde, Antamina, Anglo American, Hudbay, Hochschild, and Southern Peaks Mining.
Our motivation in moving forward with PERUMIN Jóvenes was to support the attendees financially, and the companies sponsoring them quickly got on board. I thank these eight companies for helping us reach this important goal,” said Lozano.
He also expressed hope that a second edition of the event would attract more delegations with sponsorships from additional mining companies. “It’s almost certain that the IIMP headquarters will be too small by then,” he concluded.
