Lima, SEPTEMBER 19 2024 Minister Mucho Said that PERUMIN Strengthens Peru's Image as a Mining Producer and Investment Destination

The Minister of Energy and Mines stated that the mining convention has become an investment magnet and a great opportunity to consolidate the future of mining.

The Minister of Energy and Mines, Rómulo Mucho, highlighted Peru's importance on the world stage. He added that the event allows the country to position itself as a key destination for mining investments. He also emphasized PERUMIN's key role as a driver of growth and innovation in the sector.

"We are a privileged country because of our mineral diversity, which enables us to be globally competitive. In a context where energy transition demands key metals, Peru plays an important role, as it hosts 7 of the 8 critical metals for this process," said Mucho.

During his participation in the launch of PERUMIN 37, an event organized by the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP), Mucho added that the convention, which will be held in Arequipa next year, allows "the strengthening of alliances between the public and private sectors amidst a changing context where the progress towards energy transition is inevitable."

In this regard, he stated that PERUMIN has become a magnet for investment, offering a great opportunity to consolidate the future of mining in Peru.

Investment

Minister Mucho highlighted the growth in mining investments in recent months, noting that, as of July 2024, Peru has reached US$ 2.5 billion in investments, an increase of 10% compared to the same period last year. "This growth reflects the confidence in our mining sector and is a positive sign that we are accumulating the metals the world demands," said the minister.

He also mentioned that the government is committed to unlocking investments and facilitating the entry of more companies into the mining sector, all with the goal of contributing to the development and well-being of the population.

Finally, Minister Mucho pointed out that holding this type of discussion as a prelude to PERUMIN 37 is crucial, as it addresses the challenges and opportunities of the sector, strengthening Peru's image as a competitive and reliable mining country for international investors. "We are optimistic about the future, and events like PERUMIN 37 are essential to continue building a stronger and more sustainable mining sector," he concluded.
