At MINExpo, Peru Day showcased the opportunities our country offers to promote safe investments, both in mining and other sectors.

Jorge Prado, senior commercial specialist at the U.S. Embassy in Peru, highlighted the importance of PERUMIN as a key event for our country and its mining sector. He made these remarks during Peru Day, an event held as part of MINExpo 2024 in Las Vegas, the United States.

“I would like to invite all the companies present today to come to Peru and participate in PERUMIN, where they will see all the opportunities our country has to offer. From the Commercial Center of the Embassy, I would like to invite everyone to come to Peru, and I will gladly provide you with the support and information you need. Let us continue working together with enthusiasm and determination to build a horizon full of common achievements,” said Jorge Prado.

Peru Day is an event organized by the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP) in partnership with the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), and was attended by Juan Miguel Miranda, Consul General of Peru in the U.S., who emphasized that our country is a strategic and reliable partner for investment.

“Our privileged location in South America and the convergence of the Andes, the Amazon, and the Pacific Ocean make us a key actor for trade and regional interconnection. Furthermore, the country's stable economic conditions create a favorable environment for the development of projects in mining, energy, infrastructure, technology and other businesses," he said.

He also mentioned that Peru has a solid network of 22 free trade agreements that connect it to different markets around the world, consolidating its commitment to a stable and conducive environment for investment.

The United States, Strategic Partner

Additionally, Juan Miguel Miranda emphasized the importance of the U.S. as a partner to Peru, as they celebrate 15 years of the free trade agreement.

“The U.S. is now our secure partner and one of Peru’s main investors. In a context of increased competitiveness for this country, it is essential that Peru remains at the forefront of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, information technology, augmented reality, etc. These tools are transforming our daily lives and have a positive impact on several sectors, including mining,” said the Consul.

He added that our country is committed to national development in science, technology, and innovation. To this end, a national digital transformation strategy has been approved and is actively promoting international cooperation, part of which is with the U.S.

He also mentioned the relationship between Peru and the U.S., which has translated into participation in the Partnership for Economic Prosperity in the Americas, a U.S. initiative that strengthens the cooperation framework to promote legal and competitive business, trust, resilience, and prosperity, thus promoting sustainable investment.
