Germany's Ambassador Sabine Bloch said that her country will need Peru's cooperation in the raw materials sector, such as copper and rare earths, in order to promote renewable energies.
Lima, October 03, 2024. Germany's Ambassador Sabine Bloch said that Germany is seeking to diversify its suppliers and sees Peru as an attractive partner to achieve this goal. She made this remark during the launch of PERUMIN 37, which took place as part of the “Mining Thursday” event organized by the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP).
"The German government is on the path to transforming its energy supply, moving away from traditional sources towards renewable, sustainable energy and carbon neutrality by 2045," she emphasized, while confirming Germany's participation as “Partner Country” in the organization of PERUMIN 37, scheduled for September 22-26 next year in Arequipa.
“And to achieve this goal, Germany must secure the supply of necessary raw materials, such as copper for electromobility and rare earths, while diversifying its suppliers. Peru is a highly attractive and ideal partner for Germany,” said the European authority.
With that in mind, Bloch stated that the country she represents will seek Peru's cooperation in the raw materials sector and in introducing more companies into the national market. “The Peruvian government remains open to foreign investment, and Peru’s macroeconomic data is among the most stable in South America. Additionally, the Peruvian mining sector is solidly organized in the private sector,” she pointed out.
Furthermore, the German ambassador noted that they are honored to be the Partner Country for PERUMIN 37, even though Germany does not have any mining operations in Peru, adding that the German economy is the third strongest in the world after the United States and China.
"I would like to emphasize the innovative power of German mechanical engineering and the important role of German suppliers specialized in high-tech mining. PERUMIN 37 is a great opportunity to support our companies while establishing contacts with Peruvian business and political partners," she said at the IIMP event.
Finally, she said that PERUMIN 37 will provide an opportunity to showcase the quality of German mechanical engineering at the most important mining fair in Latin America.
