  • The specialist considers that innovators must take risks in order to rise to new challenges.

During her participation at Mining Thursday, an event organized by the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers, Magali Arroyo, member of the PERUMIN Hub committee, stated that the METS sector has the daily challenge of keeping exploring and improving.

“All service suppliers have started innovating. I am from Cajamarca, and when the city was an agricultural area, large-scale mining came, and, as a result, many companies were created which started innovating.”

She also claimed that mining suppliers have the challenge of working to fulfill the ESG criteria. This will give mining companies that plus, not just through their role as stakeholders, but also as a link with the community.

To meet these objectives, Arroyo believes that the innovators should take risks, not limit themselves, and that large companies, in turn, should create strategic alliances with communities in general.

Furthermore, the representative of Orica invited young people to join the PERUMIN Hub Innovation Program. “You are digital natives, quite immersed in the big data world. This is a great opportunity. This program offers you great freedom; do not limit yourselves. Ideas are not silly, they are innovative; and an original idea will always be the one to break the mold.”

She also highlighted that the METS sector faces the challenge of innovation. “Mining companies always need for us to find that solution for them, that original idea,” she said.
