Faced with the serious situation generated by the global COVID-19 pandemic, VOLCAN Compañía Minera has been taking actions to join the fight to get out of this health crisis and meet the great demands of our country.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, VOLCAN, through the National Society of Mining, Oil and Energy (SNMPE), has been actively participating in efforts aimed at facing the health crisis. To date, the mining sector has delivered 32 oxygen plants, 3,732 oxygen cylinders, 176 concentrators and more than 4 million liters of oxygen.

Likewise, VOLCAN has donated two oxygen plants, one for the Cayetano Heredia Hospital in Lima and another for the Daniel Alcides Carrión Hospital in Cerro de Pasco, by signing a Framework Agreement for Institutional Cooperation between the Pasco Regional Health Directorate and the mining company.

It should be noted that both oxygen generating plants are already operating and are SERALT Model GOX-M10DUAL brand. They produce high purity oxygen, in the range of 95% to 96% in a stable way. They have the capacity to produce 20 m3 of oxygen per hour and supply it to the entire hospital network 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

In relation to its communities of direct influence, VOLCAN launched a biosecurity donation plan to more than 50 communities, which to date exceed 13,100 kits including food, shelter and materials to equip health posts, in addition to other purchases, such as spray backpacks, disinfection materials, masks, infrared thermometers, among others.

While continuing to comply with the health measures established by the Government, through dialogue with the communities, they initiated an economic reactivation plan in the mining development areas where they have a presence. This plan consists of supporting local businesses that comply with health protocols in order to reactivate their services.

VOLCAN highlighted that, given the emergency situation that has been affecting Peruvian families, it is necessary to continue coordinating efforts between the State and private companies to overcome the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. It is time to seek the union of society, companies and the government to defeat the virus.
