This year, PERUMIN Inspira is expecting to receive more than 100 social startup projects focused on six of the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations, namely: end of poverty, zero hunger, good health and well-being, clean water and sanitation, economic growth, and climate action.

“In this edition, PERUMIN Inspira expects to top the mark of 100 submitted projects meant to close the social and economic gaps afflicting people living mainly in the highlands,” said its president, Jimena Sologuren, during an interview with Radio Nacional.

The initiatives located in the Peruvian Andes over 2,000 m.a.s.l. and with a focus on biodiversity, food security, and agriculture and livestock systems will compete for the special “CIP – One CGIAR” award, sponsored by the International Potato Center and the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).

“The award will give the owner of the winning startup the chance to strengthen their capacities by taking innovation and development courses in prestigious institutions for up to $2,000, among other benefits, such as personalized advisory, technical accompaniment, and broad dissemination,” she explained.

Entrepreneurs can also apply to the category “High Impact Startups,” which is intended for projects focused on the abovementioned SDGs and operating in an area located at 500 m.a.s.l. or more. From these projects, the ones that meet the requirements to receive the special “CIP - One CGIAR” award will be selected.

“The winning high impact startups will get seed capital worth PEN 15,000, thanks to Poderosa mining company; as well as digital technical accompaniment by KAMAN; 15 hours of legal advice thanks to ONTIER Law Firm; and promotion and articulation with the private sector,” added Jimena Sologuren.

The president of PERUMIN Inspira pointed out that submission of projects is open until June 15. Entrepreneurs interested in participating in this important program can sign up by visiting the following link: https://perumin.com/perumin35/public/es/inspira

The projects that are selected will be presented at PERUMIN 35th Mining Convention, one of the most important mining events in the world. PERUMIN has positioned Peru as the meeting point for the mining industry, and this year it will be held in Arequipa from September 26 to 30.
