  • In the third stage of the program, the PERUMIN Hub competition concluded with proposals from innovators coming from Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Holland, Israel, France, the United States, among others.

PERUMIN Hub, the main open and collaborative innovation program developed by the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP) and the Mining Innovation Hub of Peru, concluded the third stage of its program with a total of 79 proposals for the mining sector. This edition, as well as promoting innovations in the sector, seeks to consolidate a community of innovators in the industry.

During its course, the program registered more than 400 innovators from all over the world in its matchmaking platforms and for the first time it managed to include 17 mining companies, thereby promoting a sectorial vision. In addition, it received more than 50 thousand visits to its website and more than 1,000 participants in its 8 webinars.

Thus, through the participation of innovators from Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, United States, France, Holland, Israel, Peru and Qatar, it was possible to achieve the objective of "connecting" and "collaborating" among all attendees and create opportunities in the field of innovation, generating feedback, complementarity and strength.

The result of this great meeting was seen in its matchmaking, created in order to connect innovators and mining companies, who received a total of 95 invitations to connect with innovators in matchmaking process 1, and 38 proposals between innovator and mining company in matchmaking process 2.

Regarding the participation categories, Innovations to be validated, with proposals that have a prototype still to be validated, 45 applications were obtained: 24 of these on the subject of “Mining 4.0”, 16 on “Environment and Sustainability”, and 5 on “Water resources”. In the second category, successful Innovations, with mature projects already validated by the mining company, a total of 34 applications was obtained: 26 in “Mining 4.0”, 5 in “Environment and Sustainability”, and 3 in water resources.

“Although ten challenges were prioritized in this first edition, these respond to the need to innovate with more than one actor generating shared value. This fact strengthens the competition organizer’s main argument concerning the desire to innovate together in order to achieve sustainable development” said Pamela Antonioli, General Manager of Hub Mining Innovation.

This innovation program takes place within the activities of Heading to PERUMIN - Bicentennial Edition, which has its slogan “Generating prosperity for Peruvians”. It aims to create spaces for open and inclusive debate on mining and seeks to analyze this industry’s importance for Peru and its role in the coming years.
