The “School Mining Award” contest is organized within the framework of PERUMIN 35 and will give its winners the opportunity to visit the PERUMIN Mining Convention, the most important event of its kind in Latin America, where the awards ceremony will take place. Besides attending with all expenses paid, the schoolchildren will have the chance to win LED TV sets, laptops, and tablets.

The event seeks to kindle and stimulate the interest of primary and secondary school students, from public and private schools from across the country, to learn more about the characteristics and benefits of the Peruvian mining activity.

The competition consists in having schoolchildren from different regions do research and use their creativity to create artistic works that highlight the importance of the mining sector for the future of the country.

Three categories have been established for the submission and evaluation of works: from 1st to 4th grade of primary school, a category in which students will participate with short stories; from 5th to 6th grade of primary school, where students will compete by making short videos; and from 1st to 5th grade of secondary school, a category for which students will submit scale models.

Registration

Registration is online and is channeled through the schools, which must form “participation teams” made up of the student who is participating, accompanied by a teacher and the school principal. Each institution can compete in one, two, or three categories, by registering only one participation team per category.

It is worth mentioning that this contest will be carried out with the valuable support of the Professional School of Mining Engineering of Universidad Católica de Santa María, who will contribute to it throughout the process.
