Lima, JUNE 6 2022 PERUMIN Inspira: Social innovators will be able to submit their projects until June 15

  • PERUMIN Inspira, a program sponsored by the mining industry, will allow social entrepreneurs to present their projects at PERUMIN 35th Mining Convention

As part of the activities in preparation for PERUMIN 35th Mining Convention, it was announced that the deadline to apply to the 3rd edition of PERUMIN Inspira has been extended until June 15 at 11:59 p.m. PERUMIN Inspira is the most important recognition granted by the mining industry to social startups that contribute to the development of communities in high Andean regions.

Given the demand for this initiative—sponsored by the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP) in alliance with the International Potato Center (CIP) - One CGIAR, and managed by Kunan—the decision was made to give more opportunities to more entrepreneurs with proposals pursuing 6 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations: end of poverty; zero hunger; good health and well-being; clean water and sanitation; decent work and economic growth, and climate action.

Finalist entrepreneurs will have the chance to present their initiatives at PERUMIN 35th Mining Convention to be held face to face in Arequipa from September 26 to 30.

“We have been receiving innovative projects from entrepreneurs from across the country looking for support and synergies that will help their startups stand out and grow. We are excited about this edition, and we salute their commitment to fostering sustainable development,” said Jimena Sologuren, president of PERUMIN Inspira.

In its 2022 edition, entrepreneurs will be able to apply to the category “High Impact Startups,” which will recognize a startup that has been actively working and carrying out activities involving their target group for at least 6 months before their application.

In addition, applicants could win the special CIP - One CGIAR recognition, which is granted to those who have a startup in the highlands of Peru, at 2,000 m.a.s.l. or more, working with agricultural and livestock products or services towards one of the following SDGs: end of poverty, zero hunger, or climate action.

The winner of this contest will get seed capital worth PEN 15,000; digital technical accompaniment by Kaman; legal advice for patent application thanks to ONTIER Law Firm; promotion and articulation with the private sector working in the area of influence; and dissemination of their proposal through the channels associated with PERUMIN.
